We need to plan for our 2027 Omaha DSA Chapter Convention. This is where we elect permanent Steering Committee officers and set priorities. So, we need volunteers to fill in the following committees:

• Convention Arrangements Committee
  • Secures the convention hall
  • Prepares material in coordination with the Program Committee, like how to get to the convention, etc.
  • The Committee Chair usually calls the convention to order, and acts as presiding officer until a president pro tempore is elected
• Credentials Committee
  • Prepares and certifies officers and delegates, in this case, members in good standing and living within Omaha DSA's chapter jurisdiction
  • Checks people in as they arrive to the convention hall, hands out name tags, prepares a Credentials Report that needs to be accepted so that the convention can be capable of transacting business
• Program Committee
  • Works out a convention program combining a suitable order of business with special features designated to promote and develop Omaha DSA as a whole
  • Prepares the entire program, including the agenda. Has to be voted on
  • Includes address, forums, workshops, exhibits, tours, and other activities designed for membership-training, motivational, or entertainment value
• Resolutions Committee
  
  • Screens all resolutions, bylaw amendments, policy statements, and main motions submitted for consideration
  • Makes suggestions to the introducer, assists in resolution drafting
  • Advances submitted resolutions to the convention for consideration, proposes amendments for adoption, and decides on the order in which resolutions are considered
  • Drafts courtesy resolutions, for example a resolution to express appreciation to those who arranged accommodations for our physical needs
• Rules Committee
  • Drafts rules of operating procedure specially required for the particular convention
  • Prepares a Rules Report that needs to be voted on
